Hey,
I am using the demo version of LiveWorship to evaluate for our church. So far I like it a lot. It's easy to use and has lots of great tools.
I tried importing some ppt files that I exported from Apple Keynote. When I try to import them, I get a message saying "MS Office could not be found." I figure if you have a ppt file...you should be able to import them...whether you have MS office or not.
I am using a 14" iBook with Power PC chip. I see that there is a powerpoint importer to download from this website...I cannot find it for my hardware.
Any help?
Thanks! _________________ Jeff |

| PowerPoint is required...the import actually launches the file inside PowerPoint and then uses the application to export the text and/or background images and then recreates these inside LiveWorship (the converter application does the same thing, but runs in Rosetta and creates a LiveWorship presentation file)...LiveWorship does not parse the PowerPoint file itself. |

You would still need to have PowerPoint installed.
This gets a bit complicated, but here's the explanation of what Rosetta is and why it was mentioned when we discuss the importing of PowerPoint:
"Rosetta" is a emulation software from Apple that allows applications compiled for PowerPC Macs to run on the newer Intel Macs. See:
Wikiepedia: Apple's Rosetta emulation software
Since PowerPoint is a PowerPC native application, our convert/import method broke when LiveWorship was compiled as a Universal application (providing better performance on as a native application for Intel Macs and not running through the Rosetta emulation). We found that if we compiled the code into a stand alone converter (that still ran as a PowerPC application), users who had moved to the Intel platform could use this stand alone application to convert PowerPoint files.
Knowing that Microsoft was working on a Universal version of PowerPoint (Office 2008), we made a decision to wait until this newer version was released before we invest programming resources into changes to this feature. After the newer version of Office is released, we'll again examine the best path for importing the information into LiveWorship. |
